An evening view of the Pont des Arts, on the Seine River, Paris. In 1902, Alten exhibited a painting titled, "Evening on the Seine (Paris)" at the Toledo Museum of Art, and that painting was likely the same as shown here. The exhibition of some 52 oils and watercolors, his first known one-man-show, included several French pictures executed during his 1899 trip to Paris to study at the academies there.
