Camelia (b. 1898) was the second daughter in the Alten family and subject for several of Alten's paintings. Camelia noted posing for an earlier painting in her personal diary of 1917:

"The model didn't come, so I poised [posed] for the class and earned $1.50. Papa just finished an awfully cute picture of me in my pink dress." - Camelia Alten, GVSU Archives and Special Collections
