This picture has been variously known as "The Mexican Country Fiddler," "The Blind Fiddler," "The Taos Violinist," and "The Taos Country Fiddler." The model is the same as in the painting titled, "Mexican Beggar."

On the stretcher reverse, top center, a red and white paper label with typewritten inscription TAOS FIDDLER 32 X 40 A-58. And another red and white label, handwritten in ink, Ins.47 32 x 40 Taos Fiddler. Another small eight-sided paper label with "53" ? pencilled on it.
