Catalogue Raisonné

This catalogue documents more than 2,000 known authentic works by Alten, and is an on-going project with additional entries made as they are received and authenticated. During his lifetime, it is estimated that this German-born artist completed close to 3,400 paintings.

The Mathias J. Alten Catalogue Raisonné is a gift to GVSU from Anita M. Gilleo and supported by the Anita M. Gilleo Endowment. The project is maintained by the Lead Project Research and original catalogue director, James A. Straub.
